Jon Limmer

Jon’s career includes serving on a US Navy aircraft carrier and a nuclear submarine for over six years and then working in the IT field for over 25 years in northern New England. Jon caught the computer bug in 1982, purchasing his first PC (the DEC Rainbow, running both CPM and MS-DOS) even before the first IBM PC was produced.

Jon’s first Wycliffe assignment began in August 2008 at JAARS, providing network and server support for locations worldwide needing assistance with training, network design, troubleshooting and hardware purchase, and configuration. He was also part of an administration team for the JARMail email system, supporting several thousand users worldwide.

In 2010, Jon helped Kenya Bible Translation and Literacy in Nairobi upgrade their network and servers. Next, he and his wife, Julie, served for six months in Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea (PNG), where Jon covered a critical network engineering need.

Jon and Julie have a son serving as a navy IT Lieutenant in Guam and a daughter living north of Boston. They have two granddaughters. Jon enjoys reading, sailing, scuba diving and snow skiing. Jon advises an assignment in PNG if one wants to lose weight. The food selections and frequent walks up the hills worked wonders for him, resulting in a loss of 20 lbs. The downside was that his pants and shorts no longer fit.
