Hank Scott
Hank joined Wycliffe in 1997 after working for several years in the IT field for a large utility company. His first assignment with Wycliffe was as the Network Manager for the Wycliffe USA headquarters in Orlando, Florida where he designed and installed the network for the new Wycliffe campus. After a few years he took on the role of Technical Services Manager, leading a small group of network and systems specialists who maintained Wycliffe USAs networks and corporate systems. This team addressed various projects, which at their time, were cutting edge including secure wireless networking, Smartphone deployments, VPN usage for remote staff, various network and server upgrades and infrastructure development for Wycliffes new enterprise systems.
In 2006 Hank and his family moved to Waxhaw, NC to begin serving at JAARS. He is currently the Director of IT Global Engineering which focuses on developing and deploying solutions to enable our field staff to effectively use technology in their work. The team has three distinct areas of concentration: Network Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Connectivity Engineering. These three sub-teams work closely with users around the world to deploy improvements in power, Internet connectivity, communications tools, and collaborative systems in order to accelerate the Bible translation process.
Hank is married to Krista and they have two nearly grown children. He is a NASCAR fan and for fun he enjoys working with his hands and brain on construction, landscaping, auto mechanics, and spud cannons. He thinks the best technology produced in the last five years at least in regards to furthering Bible translation, is the advent of capable yet low power mobile devices and the worldwide proliferation of cellular data networks.
