Charlotte 2012 Information Technology Conference C A N C E L L E D Enjoy the Start of Spring in the Carolinas! This Charlotte Area Check-IT-Out conference is a great opportunity for singles and couples to see a mission organization in action. You will experience the JAARS Center, the hub of SIL technical and resource support services for Bible translation around the world. You will hear fascinating Bible translation and IT field stories. If Housing and Airport Shuttle services are used, fees will be collected at the conference registration checkin. You may pay by cash, check, or credit card.
Meals
The conference fee covers Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as snacks. For those staying in Center Housing, the makings for one breakfast is available. Friday lunch is available for purchase in the JAARS Dining Room. A regular meal costs $5.70, including soup and side salad. Dessert and beverages cost extra. The dining room only accepts cash or checks. Center housing consists of modern apartments, available at a cost of $37.36 per night for single occupancy, or $18.68 per person per night if shared (price includes 6.75% NC tax). If you want to room with a specific person, please indicate that on the registration form. Housing prices are subject to change. Airport Shuttle On the registration form please check the box if you want the Airport Shuttle AND please include your full flight itinerary either with the registration or in an email. Shuttle contact details will be sent to you before the conference. Billy Graham Library and Association Tour—Thursday We will depart via bus or vans at 10:30 a.m. to Charlotte where our first stop will be touring Billy Graham's childhood home and the burial site of Ruth Graham. From there you will have lunch on your own at the Graham Brothers Dairy Bar, a café located inside the Library that provides a place to relax and enjoy sandwiches, salads, ice cream, cookies, beverages, and other treats. Before our tours begin, you can also visit the Library Bookstore. Sticky Fingers Smokehouse By this time you will have worked up an appetite, so we will stop on the way back for some Southern BBQ, of which you will have two choices of meat and two sides! Evening Fellowship—Ice Cream Social If we haven't tuckered you out yet, we will have an ice cream social where you can make your own sundae! Those who did not attend the pre-conference tour are also welcome to attend. Approximate time is 7:00 PM (dependent upon return from tour). JAARS Tour—Friday The walking tour begins at 9:30 a.m. You will receive an overview of JAARS and learn about various areas, including the Language Services Center (the Wycliffe Global Alliance's IT hot spot), Aviation, and Construction and Maintenance. Your last stop will be a Vernacular Media presentation where you may be able to dub your voice into the Jesus film. The tour ends just in time for you to have lunch on your own in the Townsend Dining Room. Pre-Conference Cost $30 per person (subject to change) which includes the tours, Friday breakfast, transportation to Charlotte, dinner at Sonnys Bar-B-Q, and the Ice Cream Social.
