Frequently Asked Questions

1. What should I wear?

We would like you to feel relaxed and comfortable, wear clothing that fits this for you.

2. Should spouses attend?

Check-IT-Out is aimed at working IT professionals and their spouses. We have found that Non-IT spouses enjoy the conference too! We don't get super techie in presentations and hearing field stories, seeing language software demonstrated and hearing about Bible translation is enjoyed by all.

Also consider that:

  • Spouses are needed for understanding why you might want to get involved.
  • Often attendees have wished that their spouses had come.
  • Spouses sometimes think of other important questions to ask.

3. Should college students attend?

At Check-IT-Out, college students can:

  • Discover the variety of service opportunities with Wycliffe.
  • To be able to pray more knowledgeably about being an IT missionary--or about a life-purpose, in general.
  • Consider how their education could impact their future service in IT missions.
  • Learn how character, lifestyle and marriage issues are critical for missionary involvement.
  • Begin the application process for membership in Wycliffe, if they are ready to commit to missions.

4. Are children allowed?

We do not recommend children attend unless you provide supervision that does not distract from the conference. We have had older teenagers that have been encouraged and received a mission vision. However, younger children will be bored, frustrated and may distract speakers and other attendees.

However, we would be happy to talk about your specific situation.
Please contact us.

5. Do I need to bring anything?

Yes. Something for taking notes. Be sure you can jot down what is important to you.
Your questions. A big feature of Check-IT-Out is the Q/A sessions. Most sessions have a few minutes for Q/A, a small-group discussion segment and a panel Question and Answer session near the end.
