Dean Jordan

Dean is a simple country boy from the mountains of Pennsylvania, where fishing and hunting are taken seriously, and back when it was normal to cut school for the first days of hunting and fishing season. With his father an electrical engineer for Sylvania, Dean had easy access to a lot of radio and electrical stuff, so getting his amateur radio license in High School and an EE degree from Penn State followed naturally. At PSU he was active in the Blue Band and a fraternity. He credits a faithfully praying aunt for his survival of those years, and for his eventual salvation.

His first job after graduation was with Bendix Corporation in Baltimore where he worked on satellite tracking and avionics. Later, working as a consulting engineer in Space Physics at the U of Maryland, he helped put a gravimeter on the moon and researched ionization in the northern lights. In Baltimore, soon after his conversion, he found himself leading a college and career fellowship at a local church and met his future wife, Carol, then a nursing student at Johns Hopkins.

Early in their marriage, Dean and Carol attended a WA banquet where Uncle Cam Townsend spoke about those in the highways and byways of life without any of Gods written Word in their own language. Their hearts were pricked.

After successfully completing linguistic training they were assigned to Ghana, West Africa and completed the Nafaanra New Testament in 1985. They have taught in Dallas and Oregon, and served in various administrative positions. They are now based in Waxhaw while they continue to help the growing Nafana Church in Ghana with the Old Testament translation.

They have found modern computer tools for translation and database management, exceedingly helpful, time saving and challenging.
