Dan Zachary

Dan began his missions career as a summer missionary with SEND International in Alaska serving in broadcasting. He met his wife in Alaska (also a summer missionary), and they stayed on for 23 years serving as chief engineer for SEND's AM radio stations. Dan's IT interests began in college with classes in Fortran and IBM Assembler. With SEND he wrote software for audio processing, news processing and transmitter remote control.

In 2002, the Zacharys moved to the JAARS Center, looking for more sunshine than in Alaska (especially in the winter), and a transition into an IT position. The IT Engineering team at JAARS is now 'home' for Dan. He specializes in the Linux e-mail system, managing the spam filters, and assisting folks with e-mail related problems.

Dan and his wife Sharylee have home schooled their three daughters who are young adults now. All have interests in performing arts. Sharylee serves as a tour guide at the Museum of the Alphabet.

Dan enjoys baking bread from scratch; even grinding wheat berries into flour for the freshest bread. Oh, and don't forget to ask him to say something in his 'radio' voice.
